Faculty of Linguistics invites you to take part in the

 

XIX All-Ukrainian Students R&D Conference

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF THE xxi century

which will be held on November 29, 2018 in Kyiv, Peremohy Ave. 37, building 7.

 

The program of the conference includes plenary and working sessions. Prior to the conference a book of abstracts will be posted on the conference’s website konfist.fl.kpi.ua.

The publication of students articles electronically is free of charge.

Languages: English, German, French, Spanish.

Dear students!

 

To participate in the conference you need to provide us with the following information by October 26, 2018:

  1. Electronic registration at https://goo.gl/forms/ySRAkqCTinfU3YIh2
  2. Electronic version of the article which meets the following requirements (see below) should be sent on e-mail of the corresponding section (see below), file name in English (Surname_Tezy.doc).
  3. Printed version of the application form (application form is attached) and printed version of the article at the address of the organizing committee (see below). Co-authors send one application form.
    1. A completed version of application form shall be filed at the address of the organizing committee only in printed form.

 

Articles should meet the following requirements:

  1. RTF or DOC (2003-2010 file).
  2. Text of the abstracts should be typed in WORD А4 format, font Times New Roman, size 14, interval 1 (page fields – 2 sм.).
  3. Images, pictures, diagrams, schemes, charts, graphics, tables etc. should be black-white and text wrap. All images, which have nothing in common with the theme of the articles will be removed (e. g. photos of the students etc.).
  4. Line 1: Topic (center alignment, bold, in capitals).
  5. Line 2: Author’s first and last name (center alignment, bold, italics).
  6. Line 3: place of study – full name of faculty and institution (center alignment, italics).
  7. One line indent, next – the theses (the required volume: from 1 full to 2 pages).
  8. The structure of the article must contain the following elements: Introduction-Objectives-Methods-Results-Conclusion.
  9. After the article you should give references according to the APA style (to see the requirements follow the link http://www.apastyle.org/). The on-line APA converter is available at http://reffor.us/ or http://www.citationmachine.net/
  10. The references to the sources used in the text should be written in parentheses, which indicate the author's surname, the year of publication, the page to which you refer. For example: Students often had difficulty using APA style (Jones, 1998, p. 199). Or Jones (1998) stated, "Students often had difficulty using APA style" (p. 199).

 

Requirements to articles:

-     topicality of the problem given;

-     summarizing of the ideas on the problem given and selection of the unsolved aspects of the problem under research;

-     formulation of the objectives of the article; main idea of the research should be illustrated in the main body;

-     conclusions and perspectives of further research of the problem;

-     the bulk of the thesis is devoted to the presentation of the author’s own thoughts except citation in an amount not exceeding 15% of the total volume.

 

The participants who wish to give presentations during the conference should send their PowerPoint files on e-mail of the corresponding section by November 15, 2018 (to find the requirements to presentations please visit http://konfist.fl.kpi.ua/sites/default/files/vimogi_do_prezentaciy_pdf.pdf).

Number of speakers is limited. Presentations sent after the deadline will not be included in the conference program.

Attention!

Number of participants is limited. Organizing committee reserves the right on selection of articles. Manuscripts won’t be returned and articles aren’t reviewed. Articles, which don’t meet the requirements and which infringe the copyright or which missed the deadline, or without prior payment of the publication won’t be viewed. Co-authorship is permitted (but no more than 3 authors). Materials of the conference will be posted on the conference’s website as open access publications.

Abstract requirements

Use the template for abstract formatting.

-        RTF or DOC (2003-2010 file).

-        Margins – 2cm; paragraph – 1,25 cm; spacing before and after the paragraph – 0 (zero); line spacing – single; font – Times New Roman size 14.

-        Images, pictures, diagrams, schemes, charts, graphics, tables etc. should be black-white and text wrap. Tables and figures should not be overused.

Presentation requirements

Length of Presentation:

Each pitch should be 3-5 minutes long, followed by a Q&A session with the panel of judges.

Slide Design:

Presentations should consist of 3-5 slides.

Slides should be visually appealing and professionally designed, using relevant visuals, graphs, charts, or images to support your arguments.

Avoid excessive text; focus on key points and clear messaging.

Content Structure:

Introduction: Briefly introduce the topic and its significance.

Problem Statement: Clearly define the challenge or issue you are addressing.

Research and Findings: Present key research findings and insights that support your ideas.

Proposed Solutions/Innovations: Share your innovative solution or approach to the problem.

Impact: Discuss the potential societal, economic, or environmental impact of your solution.

Conclusion: Summarize the main points and emphasize the value of your proposal.

Engagement: Use clear, concise language that engages the audience.

Time Management: Ensure that your presentation stays within the 3-5-minute time frame.
